Corrosion and Materials Consultancy
Consultancy provided by Midland Corrosion falls into two main areas:
General advice
in areas such as materials selection and the design and operation of systems to minimise the likelihood of corrosion.
Failure analysis -
Failure investigations range from simple inspection of a failed component through to extensive examinations. These more detailed investigations could include:
- Site inspections
- Examination of failed components and pipework by optical and scanning electron microscopy
- Surface, microbiological and water analysis
- Measurement of flow rates
- On-going corrosion monitoring.
MCA carries out failure analysis on the following materials:
- Stainless and special steels
- Galvanised steel
- Low carbon steel
- Copper and copper alloys
- Aluminium alloys
- Plastics and other non-metallic materials.
We have particular expertise in:
- Copper plumbing (domestic hot and cold water) systems
- Central heating and industrial cooling systems
- Paints and coatings systems - evaluation of inhibited pigments/paints
- Water treatment for control of corrosion and scaling
